Wine rated (2022 guide) 98/100
About the wine:
An intensely fragrant and alluring nose of rose petals and violets. Rich and full-bodied on the palate, very open with dark chocolate, cherries, and sweet, fragrant blackcurrants. Silky tannins effortlessly support the flavors. There is a real dynamism and persistence in this fresh, young, and lively wine, with a vibrant juiciness that is so appealing. No element is too dominant; the wine is harmonious and balanced with excellent acidity and a long, minty, herbaceous finish with notes of tobacco and dark chocolate. A classic Opus with fullness, finesse, and energy. Harvest took place on September 10, 10 days earlier than average, and lasted 4 weeks. 2024–2045
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Wine rated (2021 guide) 97-99/100 (Extraordinary wine)
About the wine:
Winemaker Michael Silacci noted that blends are usually finalized in January or February following the harvest. This year, he was still fine-tuning the 2019 blend, but he mentioned that it was "pretty close to the final blend." "Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Opus One bursts from the glass with notes of Black Forest cake, sour cherries, blackberries, and fresh blackcurrants, plus hints of licorice, faded roses, Sichuan pepper, and iron ore. Full-bodied, the palate is bursting with juicy black, blue, and red fruits, framed by velvety tannins and underlying freshness. The wine finishes with a compelling earthy/mineral note. Tasted as a barrel sample, this is a truly magnificent Opus One in the making!

About the wine:
Elegant in style despite its substantial body, this wine offers a blend of alluring notes of blackberry, morello cherry, and blackcurrant, with a hint of warmth, while hints of applewood, bay leaf, and red tea sparkle on the edges. Very refined on the palate, with a flawless structure that extends the finish, allowing the fruit to linger. Enjoy now through 2038.
Vinous
Wine rated (2021 guide) 97/100
About the wine:
Opus One 2019 is a dense, beautifully layered, and fairly restrained wine, which should serve it well over time. Tasted alongside the 2018, the 2019 offers slightly more nuance in texture and body, yet it possesses all the classic elegance that defines the Opus One signature. Vibrant floral notes linger on the sublime finish. 2029–2049
