"La Muse 2013, like all 2013s, comes one-third from Alexander Valley, 40% from Chalk Hill, and the rest from Knights Valley and Bennett Valley—all high-slope vineyards. A blend of 89% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Malbec with 14.3% alcohol, the wine is strikingly similar to a superb vintage of Pétrus, with notes of blackberry, black cherry, licorice, truffle, and a rich, thick, juicy fruitiness, all in this full-bodied masterpiece. The tannins are still present. The wine is pure and remarkable with a savory presence. The finish lasts well over a minute.
