“This is the quintessential expression of Alexandre Bonnet’s terroir—delicate and fruity.”

“Subtle oxidative notes evoke almonds and the scent of the forest floor after rain in an elegant nose. This evolution carries through to the palate, which boasts a beautiful texture, underscored by toasty undertones and accompanied by notes of gingerbread and rapadura. Noble bitter notes lead to a lively finish. A champagne with a moving balance, without any heaviness.” (Gault & Millau 2024).

Bettane & Desseauve

Wine rated 90/100

Rated 3 stars (A high-quality product that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the wine:

Freshness, liveliness, and good body come together in a full-bodied blend to create a champagne that’s perfect for everyday drinking.

About the estate:

This winery in Les Riceys has completely overhauled its operations, adopting a “domain” model with numerous single-vineyard wines inspired by the Burgundian style. It specializes in red grapes (though it produces a respectable white blend, “Harmonie de Blancs,” made from Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay) and, in particular, a delicious saignée rosé—that is, one made by starting the winemaking process as a red wine rather than, as is more often the case in Champagne, through a blend of red and white wines. The champagnes have gradually gained depth of flavor and finesse of texture.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 96/100

Rated Category: Recommended (Recommended)

About the wine:

Subtle oxidative notes evoke almonds and the scent of the forest floor after rain in an elegant nose. This evolution continues on the palate, which boasts a beautiful texture, underscored by toasty undertones and accompanied by notes of gingerbread and rapadura. Refined bitter notes lead to a lively finish. A champagne with a moving balance, completely free of heaviness.

About the estate:

The village lies at the far end of the Laignes Valley, on the border between Champagne and Burgundy. It is a land of hillsides that people have patiently shaped for viticulture over the centuries. Its history and its name are diverse, yet its reputation is singular: Les Riceys. On the steepest slopes of Champagne, the Kimmeridgian limestone gives the Pinot Noirs of Les Riceys the unique character that has earned its three appellations their reputation: Champagne, Coteaux-Champenois, and Rosé-des-Riceys. Here, the Alexandre Bonnet estate produces some of the most prized wines of the Côte des Bar.

About the wine:

Delicate aromas of dried wildflowers and warm, sweet hay. The chalky texture gives the wine a firm yet refined concentration. Loose, delicate bubbles. These beautiful aromas linger on the palate, adding a graceful lift and a savory nuance to the ripe yellow fruit.
