“The purity and authenticity of a terroir revealed in its natural state!”

“A great Champagne with a lingering hint of freshness on the palate, full-bodied, a rich and delicious cuvée, very refined and well-structured, with delicate, distinguished fruitiness and aromatic richness, where notes of brioche and peach mingle on the palate—ideal with crayfish en papillote with fresh herbs.” (Dussert-Gerber 2026).

Wine rated (2025 guide) 92/100

Rated estate (2026 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the wine:

Jean-Marc Charpentier’s Cuvée Brut Vérité is an authentic champagne that draws on the elegance of Chardonnay, subtly enhanced by the fruity aromas of the Pinots. Crisp and flavorful, it is equally at home as an aperitif or with a meal, where this champagne reveals its precision and balance.

About the estate:

Located in Charly-sur-Marne, in the heart of the Marne Valley, Maison Charpentier was founded in 1855. Today, Jean-Marc Charpentier, representing the eighth generation, runs this family-owned estate. A specialist in Pinot Meunier, he tends his twenty-four hectares of vineyards as if they were a garden. The hillside vineyard, comprising seventy-two plots, is 45% Chardonnay, complemented by Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir. Certified organic, it has been successfully transitioned to biodynamic farming. The precise, plot-by-plot winemaking process results in a harmonious and refined range of wines, combining aromatic freshness and vinous character. A producer to watch very closely.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine noted (guide 2026) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

Rated estate (2026 guide) Featured (Successful wine)

About the wine:

A fairly complex brut with aromas of exotic fruits, deriving its elegant finesse from the predominantly Chardonnay blend, accentuated by a restrained dosage that borders on extra-brut.

About the estate:

In the mid-19th century, an ancestor who was both a winemaker and an innkeeper supplied wine (which was still still at the time) to the boatmen who pulled barges along the Marne River. At the helm since 1988, Jean-Marc Charpentier exports 30% of his champagnes. He cultivates 24 hectares in the vicinity of Château-Thierry. Noteworthy: the high proportion of Chardonnay (45%)—rare in the region—in the vineyard’s grape varieties, and the early adoption of an environmental approach: the estate, currently in the process of converting to organic farming, has been managed using biodynamic methods since 2009.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 93/100

About the wine:

The nose opens with subtle toasted notes, then shifts between white flowers, lemon zest, and Bourdaloue tart. The palate is smooth and fresh, carried by subtle bitter notes, with just the right amount of richness (brioche, toasted hazelnut, white peach) and a gently chalky finish.

A great Champagne with a lingering hint of freshness on the palate; full-bodied and delicious, it is both refined and robust, with delicate, distinguished fruitiness and rich aromas, where notes of brioche and peach mingle on the palate—ideal with crayfish en papillote seasoned with fresh herbs.
