Champagne De Venoge - Cordon Bleu Brut avec étui

Led by the duo of Gilles de la Basselière as director and Isabelle Tellier as cellar master, De Venoge has been part of the BCC Group since 1998. The lineup is divided into two main categories: the Cordon Bleu cuvées—which are accessible and available in several varieties, including an always impeccable Blanc de Noirs—and the Prince cuvées, instantly recognizable by their spectacular bottles. The wines in this range, always deep and full-bodied, have gained in aromatic brilliance and, above all, in freshness, and are well worth discovering, especially with a meal.

The house’s iconic brut, crafted from a blend of equal parts Pinot Noir, Meunier, and Chardonnay. A champagne praised for the evolved complexity of its nose (fig, stewed plum and apple, candied fruit, honey, and walnut), in harmony with a round and lingering palate, with notes of brioche and honey, enlivened by a touch of tartness.

This champagne house owes its existence to a Swiss citizen from the canton of Vaud, a wine-growing region of Switzerland. Henri-Marc de Venoge founded the company in 1837. His son expanded it internationally and launched special cuvées. In 1864, labels featuring the iconic blue ribbon—reminiscent of a decoration from the days of the monarchy—made their debut. Since 1998, the company has been owned by the BCC Group (which became Lanson-BCC in 2010). Isabelle Tellier heads the house.

Very enticing aromas of cantaloupe, ripe apples, and citrus, which come through clearly on the palate with medium body, lovely fruit, and a creamy finish. Hints of lemon and lime linger on the finish. 2021 base wine. Ready to drink now.

With a vibrant straw-yellow color, the Cordon Bleu Brut NV champagne stands out in this cuvée with a profile featuring red fruit aromas, including notes of ripe red berries, toasted bread, and powdery citrus blossoms. Medium-bodied, it is round and generous on the palate, with a velvety mousse and a refreshing finish. It is ready to enjoy right now and makes an excellent aperitif.
