Champagne Colin - Castille 1er Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut
91/100
Gault & Millau
"The estate's flagship cuvée, a blanc de blancs with wonderful energy and great freshness—not to be missed!"
"A burst of freshness from the first aromas of pear, white flowers, and eucalyptus. The palate is rounder, with an appreciable brioche note, bitter notes that balance the sweetness, and a refreshing tension on the finish. It will delight both amateurs and experienced tasters." (Gault & Millau)

About the estate:
Here in Vertus, winegrowing has been a family tradition since 1829, yet it was women who founded the vineyard, now run by Richard and Romain Colin. They manage a 10-hectare vineyard located in the premier and grand cru areas of the Côte des Blancs. Their passion for vines and wine began with Geneviève Prieur and Marie Louise Radet, their grandmothers, who both inherited vineyards from their parents.

About the estate:
Here is a relatively discreet house on the Côte des Blancs where two brothers produce very high-quality cuvées, marked by the typical characteristics of their terroir. A wonderful discovery. As the holidays approach, it's always the same question. Which champagne to choose to celebrate New Year's Eve in style? Some will turn to the big Houses, others will venture further towards independent winegrowers. But the choice here is vast and it's not always easy to find your way around. In addition to the stars, whose wines are often difficult to find (and especially at what price), many enthusiasts offer very fine vintages that provide wonderful wine experiences. Among them are the Colin brothers, Richard and Romain, who in 1997 took an unprecedented turn with the family business, which has owned vineyards since... 1829! Until then, like many of their neighbors, six successive generations of winegrowers had followed one another, supplying high-quality raw materials to the local cooperatives of Vertus and Bergères-lès-Vertus, south of the Côte des Blancs. Then, the desire to produce their own vintages led them to break away from this system and become winegrowers. It was a great move on their part, as the range is beautifully consistent, with well-defined, balanced champagnes that stir the emotions.
