“One of last year’s standout wines. This vintage is bold, rich, and long-lasting, captivating with its appealing array of aromas—toasted bread, gingerbread, candied fruit, honey, vanilla, and blond tobacco—which reflect its partial aging in oak.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2016)

Rated estate (2016 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the wine:

One of last year's standout wines. This vintage is bold, rich, and long-lasting, captivating with its appealing array of aromas—toasted bread, gingerbread, candied fruit, honey, vanilla, and blond tobacco—which reflect its partial aging in oak.

About the estate:

In 1996, Caroline and Olivier joined their surnames—Picard and Collard—both in marriage and in their winery. Today, they own a 16-hectare estate in the Marne Valley and the Côte des Blancs—featuring organically farmed Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards—and, since 2013, a prestigious location in Épernay.

The wine is well-made, but the dosage is noticeable. I wasn't convinced by the balance.

The first bottle was unremarkable. The second was exceptional. It seems the potential is definitely there, because this quality can’t be a matter of chance!
