Terre de Vins
"The very expression of the Sézanne terroir"
"This beautiful Chardonnay from the Sézanne region tastes extremely good, with a sense of accomplishment. The Collet brothers trio is now reaping the rewards of years of working the soil, selecting plots, and rigorous work in vinification and aging (17% in barrels and 17% in oak casks). This is a well-rounded Champagne with beautiful ripe Chardonnay fruit and a condensed, clean and lively structure. Beautiful presentation, excellent value for money. A textbook example." Rated estate Selected (An estate or winery that impressed us with one or more wines from its production, without us being able to give an overall opinion on the style of the entire range)
About the estate:
In the heart of the Côte de Sézanne, brothers Vincent, Thomas, and Florent Collet have given new impetus to the family estate since the beginning of this century, on 15 plots located around Fontaine-Denis. The wines are well-made, and the Anthime range, which boasts oak aging, stands out from the crowd.
Guide Hachette des vins
Wine noted (guide 2020) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
Rated estate (2021 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About wine:
This brut owes everything to Chardonnay, a grape variety widely grown in the Sézanne region. Its discreet, slightly evolved nose, with hints of citrus and minerality, and its smooth, fresh palate with good length and just the right amount of acidity, where citrus fruits combine with white fruits, leave the impression of a well-structured Champagne.
About the estate:
At the beginning of the 20th century, the Collet family sold their grapes to wine merchants. René Collet, a cooperative member, launched his champagne in 1973. His three sons, Thomas, Vincent, and Florent, joined the business between 2001 and 2011 and decided to produce their own vintages. They have 5 hectares of vines in the Sézanne region.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Wine rated 14.5/20 (Good)
Rated estate (2021 guide) Recommended (Recommended)
About wine:
This 100% Chardonnay has a light lemon color and develops a floral, fruity, and mineral nose. The mousse is smooth with fine bubbles. The palate expresses a certain maturity without overripeness, integrated wood, flavors of walnut and mango, minerality, and salinity. This champagne will be a good companion for a rich starter or aperitif.
About the estate:
The story of Domaine Collet is a beautiful one: born into a modest family of winegrowers and farmers in Fontaine-Denis, René Collet simply decided to create his own brand in 1973. With the help of a large cooperative, he developed the estate by acquiring and planting Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines, ideally located in the Fontaine-Denis area. The early 2000s brought changes: two of Mr. Collet's three sons joined the company, and a new winery and barrel cellar were built.
