"Radiant purity, striking freshness!"

"A Blanc de Noir without dosage. The nose offers a bold palette of cherry, blackcurrant, and blueberry aromas, very fresh and direct. The palate is assertive and deep from the outset, with beautiful fullness; the phenolic compounds are very present and the dry style works well here. Drink now or keep for two to three years." Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (guide 2023) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)

About the domain :

Established in Urville, in the heart of the Côte des Bar region since 1808, the Drappier family, headed by Michel and his children, owns 55 hectares of vines and 50 hectares under contract. The wines, produced for the most part on Jurassic-Kimmeridgian soils, showcase the classic Champagne grape varieties. Pinot noir is king, but there are also Petit Meslier, Blanc vrai and Arbane. Committed to respecting his environment and the identity of his grape varieties, Michel Drappier creates meticulous, precise and sincere blends. A pioneer in the production of bruts nature using healthy viticulture methods, he carefully elaborates his liqueur de dosage for other cuvées.

Domaine noté (guide 2023) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the domain :

A renowned Aube house founded in 1808. Its current owner, Michel Drappier, joined by his children Charline, Hugo and Antoine, manages a 62-hectare vineyard, planted mainly with pinot noir (a third of which is organic) in the Bar-sur-Aube area, but he also buys from growers in other regions. In the cellar, sulfitages and dosages are measured. Prestigious bottles, especially the large formats, are aged in the venerable cellars dug in 1152 by the monks of the nearby Clairvaux Abbey, while the others are stored in cellars in former chalk pits in Reims.

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau

Wine rated (2025 guide) 90/100

About the wine:

Beneath a barely stained robe, we discover a delicate bouquet that offers beautiful tenderness with aromas of stone fruit, crushed raspberry, and Gariguette strawberry. The palate is full of delicious fruit. Roundness, without opulence, and freshness before a slightly salty finish that makes you want to go further.

Domaine rated (guide 2023) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the domain :

The Drappier family dates back to the 17th century. Once occupied by the Cistercian monks of Clairvaux, the house's headquarters include 12th-century vaulted cellars. Following in his father's footsteps, Michel Drappier has been in charge of vinification since 1979. The family has a vast vineyard in Urville (a third of which is organic), supplemented by supplies from Montagne de Reims, Bouzy and Ambonnay. Chardonnays come from Aube and Cramant. Drappier champagnes are colorful, generous in their aromas, and express their earthy vinosity on the palate. Here we find a frank, unvarnished terroir dimension, vinified with minimal doses of sulfur.
