Champagne Janisson-Baradon & Fils - Brut Tradition
14,5/20
Gault & Millau
A very pretty Brut Tradition for aperitifs or the start of a meal, with a deliciously fruity nose of vine peaches and grapes. Its lively bubbles on the palate are a delight. A Champagne that faithfully reflects the terroir of the Janisson-Baradon plots... A fine entry-level wine!

Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the domain :
Located in the hills above Épernay, the Janisson-Baradon estate is run by Richard Janisson and his two sons Maxence and Cyril. The vineyard comprises 9 hectares of slopes surrounding the champagne capital, carefully and attentively tended. The Janissons have cleverly modernized the style of their wines, and this year again, parcel selections dominated the tasting, with champagnes of assertive character that retain the suppleness of the sector. A sure bet.
Guide Hachette des vins
Domaine noté Award-winning wines (Wines from this producer regularly win awards in the guide)
About the domain :
Situated in the hills above Épernay, this estate was founded in 1922 by a winemaker and a cooper, and is now run by their descendants, Maxence and Cyril Janisson, the former in charge of management, the latter in charge of vines and cellars. The brothers have over 9 ha of vines. HVE-certified property.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Wine rated (2013 guide) 14.5/20 (Good)
Domaine rated 1*Star (Serious production)
About the wine:
The nose of this brut opens with panache on tones of verbena, menthol, candied citrus and chalk. The palate is racy, very taut, with an insistent minerality that lends relief. The superb dosage takes nothing away from the terroir. A very fine brut that expresses its origin!
About the domain :
Founded in 1922 by Georges Baradon, a remueur, and his son-in-law, Maurice Janisson, a cooper, the house is still run by the Janisson family, who cultivate just over 9 hectares of vines on the western slopes of Épernay, in Chouilly and Brimont. The vineyards have been tilled since 1997, without the use of weedkillers. Most of the cuvées are a blend of pinot noir and chardonnay, in equal proportions.
