About wine:

Two years after disgorging, this 2015-based edition has settled in beautifully, showing all the sunshine of the base year with its sweetness of mandarin and apricot, surprisingly smooth and silky from the outset before settling into its inviting range of praline, cappuccino, and bitter almond aromas and subtle chewiness of fruit skin. The intensity of the base year makes this a wine full of punch and fullness, but it has been beautifully tamed to become a characteristic, smooth and multi-faceted Grande Cuvée. A blend of 131 wines, with reserves dating back to 2000.

Wine rating (2024 guide) 3*Coup de Coeur (Exceptional wine)

About wine:

The 171st edition was composed around the 2015 vintage, characterized by unprecedented heat and drought, saved by rains in the second half of August. In the glass, it has a clear, fine golden color, enlivened by fine, lively bubbles, and a nose bursting with flowers, citrus fruits, pear, mirabelle plum, dried fruits, and finely buttered brioche. A lively and invigorating attack opens onto a full, round, indulgent palate, long irrigated with toasted notes, hazelnut and lemon, energized by a touch of acidity on the finish. Relief, generosity, elegance.

Wine rating (2023 guide) 94/100 (Outstanding wine)

About wine:

The Grande Cuvée 171st Edition is a delicious blend of 45% Pinot Noir, 37% Chardonnay, and 18% Pinot Meunier. It has seductive and captivating aromas of dried fruit, pastry, lemon oil, marzipan, spring flowers, and ginger, with notes of almond and vanilla that become more pronounced over time. This medium-bodied to full-bodied wine is precise and well-structured, with a fleshy fruit core and a sapid, incisive finish. Made from the 2015 vintage, the blend includes 131 reserve wines dating back as far as 2000 (42% of the total blend) and should age beautifully over the next decade.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 96/100

About wine:

This 171st edition stands out completely from the vegetal marker of 2015, with a subtle blend of twelve other years and 131 wines. It offers us a superb duality with a fairly distinctive and inviting nose. Pastry notes, smokiness, toastiness, and a hint of frangipane combine with white flowers to create a wine that is already appealing and complex. On the palate, we find length, tension, and a delicate, velvety mousse.

About wine:

Based on the 2015 vintage, a blend of 134 base wines dating back to 2000. Very lively and crisp nose. Tense and surprisingly vibrant for such a hot growing season—positively explosive in terms of impact on the nose and palate. Lots of acidity and impressive length. A very good Krug Grande Cuvée.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 99/100

About wine:

The tightness and tension of this wine are impressive considering that the youngest wine from this vineyard dates back to 2015 (a hot, dry year), and some wines date back to 2000. Ginger and orange zest. A hint of crème brûlée. It is medium-bodied, with notes of apple, pie crust, and flowers. It is salty and spicy, yet complex and magnificent. Chamomile and other floral teas underscore the whole. The finish is rich and flavorful. Very good release. It really takes off at the end. Drink now or hold.

About wine:

Spanning from 1998 to the 2015 vintage, Champagne Grande Cuvée 171 offers a kaleidoscope of aromas including orange marmalade, toasted brioche, almonds, and ripe peaches. Full-bodied and round, it has a hint of warmth on the finish, but is very appealing, balanced, and long, with exceptional depth and richness. This fantastic expression of the Grande Cuvée is magnificent right out of the bottle and will be an excellent addition for collectors who will be able to enjoy it over the next two decades. Drink between 2023 and 2043.
