Champagne Pommery

In Reims, in an Elizabethan neo-Gothic architectural style, the Maison du Champagne Pommery is today part of the Vranken Monopole group. Founded in 1836, Maison Pommery et Greno was taken over in 1858 by Madame Pommery. She gave it new impetus, with a focus on quality and international expansion. A visionary of a new Champagne style, she created the first brut Champagne, Pommery Nature 1874, breaking with the codes and tradition of very sweet wines. Under her impetus, Maison Pommery built imposing cellars in its chalk basements. A monumental 116-step staircase links this subterranean world to the outside world.
