"The emblem of Ruinart taste with this delicate Blanc de Blancs, combining freshness and roundness."

"An iconic Blanc de Blancs from Champagne. Its green gold sparkles and the characteristic aromas of acacia, yellow citrus, and white stone fruits express themselves with great precision. Chalky and iodine notes give it great verticality. The palate reveals a lively, crisp sensitivity, with perfect apple and pear flavors and very appealing salty acidity." Rated estate (2024 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)

About wine:

An iconic Blanc de Blancs in Champagne. Its green gold sparkles and the characteristic aromas of acacia, yellow citrus, and white stone fruits express themselves with great precision. Chalky and iodine notes give it great verticality. The palate reveals a lively, crisp sensitivity, with perfect apple and pear flavors and very appealing salty acidity.

About the estate:

What can be said about this winery other than that it is in dazzling form, led by cellar master Frédéric Panaïotis, at the peak of his art, and by technical teams in the vineyard, in the cellar, and in support functions, all driven by the same high standards and the same desire to innovate. The entire range has gained spectacularly in precision and intensity, without losing any of its style based on aromatic brilliance. Focusing mainly on Chardonnays from the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims, the champagnes all display great delicacy and aromatic purity, with remarkable expressions of chalk, flowers, white fruits, and citrus. We were very impressed by the latest editions of the Dom Ruinart cuvée. Committed to art and creativity, the house calls on the greatest talents to interpret its DNA, style, and art de vivre.

About the estate:

The oldest champagne house. It could be classified as a historical monument, as are its cellars dug into the chalk during the Gallo-Roman period, which have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015. The founder of the business, Nicolas Ruinart, added wine trading in 1729 to his cloth merchant business—another thriving industry in the region at the time, which was soon abandoned. The company remained family-owned until it was taken over by Moët & Chandon in 1963. Its prestigious champagne takes its name from the monk Dom Ruinart, a contemporary scholar of Dom Pérignon. Chardonnay has been at the heart of Ruinart's cuvées since 1947, for a style that favors freshness. Frédéric Panaïotis has been the cellar master since 2007.

About wine:

A big splash of spring freshness, with white fruits and wildflowers, opens the nose. Chalk is not far behind, encrusted with tiny sea shells. This salinity is also found in a slender texture where bubbles bring liveliness. Chalk returns in a fresh, mineral finish.

About wine:

The initial aromas of Ruinart's Blanc de Blancs NV are floral in nature, accompanied by aromas of lemon oil, spices, and citrus blossoms. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and perfectly balanced, with a round and consistent texture that lingers on the palate with an ethereal and appetizing finish. It should age for five to eight years.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 90/100

Rated estate (2025 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About wine:

Fine, numerous bubbles, the nose reveals a very classic profile, with a reduction that does not fully release the aromas. Aeration brings out citrus notes combined with hazelnut and fresh breadcrumbs. The palate has a beautiful, full-bodied and creamy attack, the bubbles are well managed, the juice is balanced, and a slight dosage sticks to the palate on the finish.

About the estate:

The first Champagne house, founded in 1729, enjoys an excellent reputation in France thanks to its remarkable work in marketing and in developing the style and identity of its wines. The emphasis is on Chardonnay, fine reduction on lees and creaminess for wines that are a hit with customers who are very attached to the brand. Under the leadership of Frédéric Panaïotis, the cellar master, the wines have gained in purity and precision. The champagnes presented this year confirm a return to the right dosages, precise maturity and greater complexity.

About wine:

A very appealing style that captures the elegance of Chardonnay in a way that remains immensely satisfying. The aromas are all based on lemon, grapefruit, fresh floral notes, and stone fruits. The palate offers an impression of maturity, flavor, and fullness, with peach cream and lemon brûlée. The acidity is well placed underneath. Drink now.

Fully fermented in stainless steel with complete malolactic fermentation, it has a bright silver/straw color and a very appealing nose with aromas of bread dough, attractive white flowers, citrus zest, and fresh lime. Note and opinion by Mr. BRUNO V. Published on January 21, 2025

The maximum rating applies not to the wine itself, which surprisingly was not up to standard, perhaps due to storage issues, but to the customer service provided by 1 JOUR 1 VIN, which acknowledged the problem and found a solution very quickly. I remain loyal to Ruinart, as industrial accidents are always possible, and recommend 1J1V, whose professionalism deserves to be highlighted.
