Almaviva
In 1997, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild and Eduardo Guilisasti Tagle founded Domaine Almaviva with the goal of creating an exceptional Franco-Chilean wine.
The partnership between Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Viña Concha y Toro SA introduced the concept of a “French-style château” to Chile for the first time and marked a key milestone in the growth of Chilean wines on the global market.
Today, Domaine Almaviva spans 60 hectares of vineyards blending grape varieties typical of Bordeaux wines with those of the Chilean terroir. The varieties grown here include Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot.
Located in the heart of the Maipo Valley and the Puente Alto terroir, the vineyard produces high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon thanks to a climate ideal for its cultivation. This variety is therefore always predominant in allAlmaviva vintages.
As for the wine’s aging process, it is aged in barrels for 10 months in a first cellar, then transferred to a second cellar to remain there for an additional 6 to 8 months before bottling.
