“The 2008 vintage of Pieza el Caldero is made from 96% Aragon and 4% Grenache, all from vines over 70 years old. It was aged for 12 months in American oak barrels before being bottled unfiltered. Slightly less exuberant than the Pieza el Coll (but also a bit more complex), it offers greater density and structure, with ripe, succulent fruit. It is likely to continue evolving for 1 to 2 years and will be a delight to drink through 2018.” (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

This wine is a very pleasant surprise. Its very woody, almost smoky notes won’t appeal to everyone. It pairs wonderfully with a rib of beef and strong cheeses, but under no circumstances with light, refined cuisine.
