“The 2008 vintage of Pieza el Caldero is made from 96% Aragon and 4% Grenache, from vines over 70 years old. It was aged for 12 months in American oak barrels before being bottled unfiltered. Slightly less exuberant than the Pieza el Coll (but also a bit more complex), it offers greater density and structure, with ripe, succulent fruit. It is likely to continue evolving for 1 to 2 years and will be a delight to drink through 2018.” (Wine Advocate – Robert Parker)

This wine is a very pleasant surprise. Its very woody, almost smoky notes won’t appeal to everyone. It pairs wonderfully with a rib of beef and strong cheeses, but under no circumstances with mild, refined cuisine.
