value for money

"An excellent value for money wine produced by the renowned Jorge Navascues, rated 92 by James Suckling and 91 by Wine Advocate!"

"It is readable and fruity, with a floral note and less maturity than previous vintages despite the natural conditions of the year (it feels like a fresh vintage!). It is juicy, primary, and fresh, with clarity and balance. A good deal." (Wine Advocate 2023)

Wine rating (2023 guide) 91/100 (Outstanding wine)

About wine:

The youngest red wine from Bodegas is the 2022 La Vadina, produced during a very hot and dry summer, during which they managed to preserve the wine's freshness—it has a pH of 3.3. The wine has moderate maturity and alcohol content (13.8%, nearly 1% less than the previous year); the harvest was carried out with acidity rather than maturity in mind, and it was necessary to sort and select the grapes because the same bunch contained both green and overripe grapes. It was therefore a year that required precision and hard work. This pure, unoaked Garnacha is made from 100% purchased grapes from different soils, ages, and altitudes, all located in the village of Almonacid de la Sierra. The grapes were harvested earlier and underwent destemmed fermentation in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts, before being aged in concrete for five months. It is primary and fruity, with a floral note and less maturity than previous vintages despite the natural conditions of the year (it feels like a fresh vintage!). It is juicy, primary, and fresh, with clarity and balance. A good deal. 20,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2023. 2023-2027

About wine:

A juicy Grenache, full of morello cherries, berries, tuiles, and a touch of spice and hibiscus on the nose. The palate is crisp and fruity, with pleasantly chewy tannins from the fruit and a succulent, fruity finish. Drink now.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on January 26, 2025

Discreet tannins, a slender body and concentrated fruitiness with flavors of crisp redcurrants, raspberries and spicy wild blackberries, underscored by a chalky note, make up this thirst-quenching wine with surprising freshness despite its alcohol content of nearly 14%. A long, sapid finish full of vitality. Very drinkable. Attractive price. All these characteristics will delight lovers of smooth, hyper-fruity wines to serve at the table as soon as spring arrives! In a convivial atmosphere, they will complement an Andalusian paella or a porcini mushroom risotto, thanks to its Pinot Noir character. Rating = 4.

Review and opinion by Mr. MATHIEU W. Published on 01/24/2025

Medium deep cherry red color. On the nose, red and dark fruit, spiciness, garrigue, a hint of earthiness. Quite sun-drenched and southern aromas. On the palate, ripe red fruit, some strawberry and raspberry followed by Grenache spice and again that sun-drenched character. Good body, grip, and soft tannins. What stands out is the beautiful balance between ripeness, power, grip, and elegance. Excellent PQR. Score: 16/20

Beautiful nose of fresh red fruits with lovely freshness. The palate is simple and easy to drink, but it's a good introduction to the Grenache grape variety and offers very good value for money.
