Cariñena
Cariñena is a Denominación de Origen (DO) produced in the province of Zaragoza. It is the oldest DO in the Autonomous Community of Aragon and one of the oldest in Spain. Located 50 kilometers from Zaragoza, south of the Ebro River, in the Campo de Cariñena region, it is bordered to the south by the Sierra Virgen and to the west by the Calatayud DO wine region.

The terroir of Cariñena consists of reddish limestone over strata of calcium carbonate rock and, in places, slate and clay. The climate is continental with significant temperature variations.

The most common grape variety is Grenache Noir (55%), used for making red and rosé wines, followed by Mazuelo and Tempranillo (15%). For white wines, Viura (20%) is used. The recent introduction of foreign grape varieties has significantly expanded the aromatic profile of Cariñena wines . This diversity can be appreciated by tasting the wines offered by Bodega Grandes Vinos y Viñedos and the estates Bodegas Hermanos Torcal or Bodegas Ignacio Marín.
