"An excellent value wine produced by the renowned Jorge Navascues, scoring 92 points from James Suckling and 91 points from The Wine Advocate!"

“It is approachable and fruity, with a floral note and less ripeness than previous vintages despite the year’s natural conditions (it feels like a fresh vintage!). It is juicy, primary, and fresh, with clarity and balance. A great value.” (Wine Advocate 2023)

Robert Parker - Wine Advocate

Wine rated (2023 guide) 91/100 (Excellent wine)

About the wine:

The winery’s youngest red is the 2022 La Vadina, produced from a very hot and dry summer, during which they managed to preserve the wine’s freshness—it has a pH of 3.3. The wine has moderate ripeness and alcohol content (13.8%, nearly 1% less than the previous year); the harvest was carried out with a focus on acidity rather than ripeness, and sorting and selection were necessary because the same cluster contained both unripe and overripe grapes. It was therefore a year that demanded precision and hard work. This unoaked, 100% Garnacha is made from grapes sourced entirely from different soils, vine ages, and elevations, all located in the village of Almonacid de la Sierra; the grapes were harvested early and underwent destemmed fermentation in stainless steel with native yeasts, before being aged in concrete for five months. It is primary and fruity, with a floral note and less ripeness than previous vintages despite the natural conditions of the year (it feels like a fresh vintage!). It is juicy, primary, and fresh, with clarity and balance. A great value. 20,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2023. 2023–2027

About the wine:

A juicy Grenache, bursting with morello cherries, berries, and biscuit notes, with a hint of spice and hibiscus on the nose. The palate is crisp and fruity, with pleasantly chewy tannins derived from the fruit and a succulent, fruity finish. Ready to drink now.

Subtle tannins, a slender body, and concentrated fruit flavors of crisp redcurrants, raspberries, and spicy wild blackberries—highlighted by a hint of chalk—make up this easy-drinking wine, which is surprisingly fresh despite its alcohol content of nearly 14%. The finish is long, savory, and full of vitality. Highly drinkable. Attractive price. All these characteristics will delight lovers of easy-drinking, hyper-fruity wines to serve as soon as spring arrives! In a convivial setting, they will help highlight an Andalusian paella or a porcini mushroom risotto thanks to its Pinot Noir character. Rating = 4.

Medium-deep cherry-red color. On the nose, red and dark fruit, spice, garrigue, and a hint of earthiness. Quite sun-kissed and southern aromas. On the palate, ripe red fruit—some strawberry and raspberry—followed by Grenache spice and that sun-kissed character again. Good body, grip, and soft tannins. What stands out is the beautiful balance between ripeness, power, grip, and elegance. An excellent value. Score: 16/20

A lovely nose of fresh red berries with a nice freshness. The palate is simple and easy-drinking, but it’s a great introduction to the Grenache grape variety and offers excellent value for money.
