Bodega Vina Magana is an iconic winery in Navarre, founded in 1961 and located in the southernmost part of the region, and it has played a pivotal role in the history of the DO Navarre. The Magana brothers revolutionized this appellation by betting on the introduction of French grape varieties—which were not authorized at the time—and the cultivation of old Merlot vines, among the oldest in Spain, alongside Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon. The extreme care taken in the cultivation and winemaking of Bodega Vina Magana’s wines, thanks to the family’s expertise, has propelled the bodega’s DO Navarra wines to the international stage and, in turn, fostered a strong appreciation for the entire appellation beyond Spain’s borders.
