Bodega Enate
Bodega Enate is the queen of the Somontano region. This distinctive winery—a true temple dedicated to wine and art since 1984—features new facilities designed by architect Jesús Manzanares in 1991. Practicing organic farming, the estate’s team takes the utmost care in tending to all the grape varieties across the entire vineyard, which spans the appellation’s three valleys.

Jesús Artajona (see photo) is the winery’s oenologist. He studied oenology in Bordeaux (and at Château Margaux). Jesús Sese, co-founder of the winery, is in charge of vineyard management. The Bodega Enate vineyard covers an area of 500 hectares planted with varieties such as Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah for red wines, as well as Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer for white wines. The estate’s size is due to its very low planting density (3 meters between rows). Extreme care is taken to ensure organic cultivation, and the grapes are harvested by hand to preserve their quality.

Bodega Enate’s red blends highlight the varietal character and aromatic intensity of the grape varieties used. Wine lovers are highly encouraged to explore the range to discover the expression of the character and diversity of the Somontano region.

Bodega Enate’s reds are expressive, with a very distinct Spanish and Somontano character. The winery’s white wines are elegant and expressive; they have built the winery’s reputation and are always enthusiastically received by critics upon their annual release, particularly the exceptional Chardonnay UNO.
