Bodega Enate

Bodega Enate is the queen of Somontano. This characterful winery, a veritable temple to wine and art since 1984, had its new facilities designed by architect Jesús Manzanares in 1991. Working in accordance with ecological agriculture principles, the estate's team takes extreme care to nurture all the varieties present throughout the vineyard, which spans the appellation's three valleys.

Jesús Artajona (see photo) is the bodega's oenologist. He studied oenology in Bordeaux (and at Château Margaux). Jesús Sese, co-founder of the Bodega, is in charge of vineyard management. The Bodega Enate vineyard covers an area of 500 hectares planted with varieties such as Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah for red wines, and Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer for white wines. The size of the estate is due to the very low planting density (3 meters between rows). Extreme care is taken to ensure ecological cultivation and the grapes are harvested by hand to preserve their quality.

Bodega Enate's red blends highlight the varietal character and aromatic power of the grape varieties used. Wine lovers are strongly encouraged to discover the range in order to experience the expression of the character and diversity of Somontano.

Bodega Enate's reds are expressive with a very distinctive Spanish and Somontano character. The bodega's whites are elegant and expressive, and have earned the bodega its reputation. They are always enthusiastically received by critics when they are released each year, particularly the exceptional Chardonnay UNO.
