Castello di Ama
Castello di Ama, founded in 1976 by a group of four families from Rome, is located in Gaiole in the heart of Chianti. The vineyard originally covered 55 hectares, located between 430 and 520 meters above sea level. Today, thanks to its expansion and recognition, the estate covers 75 hectares of vineyards and 40 hectares of olive groves and favors vineyards close to its cellar to guarantee high-quality grapes. Marco Pallanti, former president of the Chianti Classico Consortium between 2006 and 2012, has masterfully developed this vineyard, which has become one of the world's leading Chianti producers.
Over the years, Castello di Ama has continuously integrated scientific and technological advances to perfect its expertise. The hacienda has replanted its vineyards, opting for a density of 5,500 plants per hectare and clonal selections of the best Sangiovese and several other complementary varieties. Their terraces have also been landscaped to optimize the exposure of the vines.
Castello di Ama promotes sustainable agriculture. Its production represents around 320,000 bottles per year, mainly under the Chianti Classico Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin. As such, its name is known as one of those that best highlights the extraordinary quality and diversity of the region's wines.
