Castello di Ama

Castello di Ama
Castello di Ama, founded in 1976 by a group of four families originally from Rome, is located in Gaiole in the heart of Chianti. The vineyard originally covered 55 hectares, situated at an altitude between 430 and 520 meters. Today, thanks to its expansion and growing reputation, the estate spans 75 hectares of vineyards and 40 hectares of olive groves, with a focus on vineyards close to the winery to ensure high-quality grapes. Under the masterful guidance of Marco Pallanti, former president of the Chianti Classico Consortium from 2006 to 2012, this vineyard has flourished, becoming one of the global icons of Chianti.

Over the years, Castello di Ama has continuously integrated scientific and technological advancements to refine its expertise. The estate has replanted its vineyards, opting for a density of 5,500 vines per hectare and clonal selections of the finest Sangiovese and several other complementary varieties. Their terraces have also been landscaped to optimize the vines’ exposure.

Castello di Ama advocates sustainable agriculture. Its production amounts to approximately 320,000 bottles per year, primarily under the "Chianti Classico" Denomination of Origin and Guarantee. As such, its name is recognized as one of those that best highlights the extraordinary quality and diversity of the region’s wines.
