Domaine Masseto

Masseto Estate
It was on the coast of Tuscany, Italy, not far from the Tyrrhenian Sea, that vineyards were planted in 1980, finally harnessing the immense potential of this hillside with its blue clay terroir.

These clumps of earth, known as “massi,” inspired the Frescobaldi family—who have been based there since 2017—to name their estate “Masseto.” The vineyard’s grape varieties consist mainly of Merlot, a variety not typically grown in a Mediterranean climate. The estate’s two wines, Masseto and its second wine, Massetino, are highly regarded in Tuscan winemaking for their finesse and the precision of their fruit.

The grapes are harvested by hand. The wine is aged for 12 months in 50% new oak barrels; it is then blended and returned to barrels for an additional three months before bottling.
