Domaine Masseto
It was on the coast of Tuscany in Italy, not far from the Tyrrhenian Sea, that vines were planted in 1980, finally exploiting the immense potential of this hillside with its blue clay soil.
These clods of earth, known as "massi," inspired the Frescobaldi family, who moved here in 2017, to name their estate "Masseto." The vineyard's grape varieties consist mainly of Merlot, a variety not commonly grown in a Mediterranean climate. The estate's two vintages, Masseto and its second wine Massetino, are highly regarded in Tuscan viticulture for their finesse and precision of fruit.
The grapes are harvested by hand. The wine is aged for 12 months in 50% new oak barrels, then blended and returned to the barrels for a further three months before bottling.
