"Masseto's famous second wine, considered just as magnificent as the main wine: the excellence of a Tuscan giant!"

“This wine is refined and fresh, with notes of sandalwood complementing the magnificent blue fruit. It is medium-bodied, with creamy, polished tannins that frame the blue fruit and notes of crushed stone. Delicious and juicy with a crisp character. You’ll want to take a sip right away. Masseto’s second wine is of the highest quality. Very easy to drink and wonderful. ” (James Suckling 2024) - Delivered in a wooden case for any order of 3 bottles of this wine (excluding “Point Relais” delivery method)

About the wine:

Massetino is considered Masseto’s second wine, but I’m beginning to conclude that it’s much more than that. It accounts for about one-third of Masseto’s production, and judging by the quality of this 2022, next year’s release of the grand vin could be absolutely phenomenal. Massetino has always included a portion of Cabernet Franc since its first vintage, 2017 —10% in the 2022 vintage. A cool, dry spring led to a slightly late budbreak, followed by 75 days of drought and high temperatures. Summer thunderstorms eventually restored balance, and the cool September evenings were perfect for the grapes to reach full ripeness. Each plot was vinified separately and with natural fermentation in concrete tanks before undergoing malolactic fermentation in barrels, 50% of which were new. After 12 months, the final blend was assembled, and the wine spent an additional three months in concrete tanks before being bottled. Bright and mineral, this wine is full of energy. Zesty and savory, it combines fresh Mediterranean herbs with ripe fruit, displaying more verticality than the 2021 Masseto and just as much concentration. Incredible precision and lovely freshness, especially considering the vintage. 2025–2042
