Domaine Baud Génération 9 - Côtes du Jura Chardonnay Les Prémices 2023
3*Coup de Coeur

"What a treat!"
“A time-tested family tradition of winemaking, focused here on precise temperature control and an 18-month aging process in oak barrels that are regularly topped up. In ancient times, the ‘premices’ were the first fruits of the earth and the firstborn of a herd, set aside for religious offerings. This wine—golden to the eye and honeyed on the nose, with a subtle hint of Williams pear that heralds the start of a wonderful olfactory adventure—is indeed a magnificent gift. With well-balanced oak, the palate immerses us in notes of licorice and honey, offering a sensation of great sweetness and warm roundness. All that’s left is to hope that the gods will leave us a little bit of it...” (Le Guide Hachette 2027)

About the estate:
The ninth generation of the Baud family—Clémentine and Bastien—took over from Alain and Jean-Michel in 2016, continuing the family tradition that dates back to 1742. In a symbolic gesture of modernity, the Baud Père et Fils estate became the Baud Génération 9 estate. The Vernois vineyard, the estate’s birthplace, underwent a major land consolidation in the 1960s. The estate’s 25 hectares are located in the Côtes-du-Jura, L’Étoile, and Château-Chalon appellations. A very safe bet.
