Clairette of Languedoc
Created in 1948, the Clairette du Languedoc AOP produces a dry white wine west of Montpellier. It is made from the Clairette grape variety, one of the oldest in the region. The soil typical of the appellation is composed of marl and schist, on Villafranchian terraces. The climate is typically Mediterranean. AOC Clairette du Languedoc wines, made from a single grape variety, can be sold young, dry or sweet.
