Exindre Castle
Located 12 km from Montpellier in a magnificent setting between the sea and the garrigue, the site of the Exindre Castle - During the Roman period, La Magdelaine was a Gallo-Roman villa dedicated to agriculture known as Villa d’Exindrio. The kings of France and, later, the bishops of Maguelone in turn developed the land by expanding the cultivation of grapevines and olive trees. In the 12th century, the bishops built a church dedicated to Saint Magdalene. The baptismal font, engraved with the name “Amélius,” remains a testament to that era. Purchased during the French Revolution, the Exindre Castle has been owned by the Sicard family for seven generations. Catherine and her husband, Bernard Géroudet, took over the estate in 1986, thus continuing the winemaking tradition of this place.

Château d'Exindre produces wines under the Coteaux du Languedoc, Muscat-de Mireval, and Vins de Pays de la Mourre appellations. The diversity of the terroir—comprising garrigue and gently sloping hillsides—allows for the cultivation of 14 different grape varieties across 45 hectares, which contribute to the wines’ complexity: Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon for the reds, and Chardonnay, Vermentino, and Grenache Blanc for the whites.
