Robert Parker

“This wine, with its deep, clear color, offers a complex, airy, and fresh initial nose of juniper, bay leaf, eucalyptus, and menthol, then develops warmer notes of sweet spices. Supple on the palate at first, with aromas of black fruit and toasted notes, the wine reveals a full-bodied and rich mouthfeel, reinforced by tannins that are still young and spirited. It’s best to let it age. ” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2017)

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine rated (2017 guide) 2** stars (Outstanding wine)

Rated estate (2024 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the wine:

This wine, with its deep, clear color, offers a complex, airy, and fresh initial nose of juniper, bay leaf, eucalyptus, and menthol, followed by warmer notes of sweet spices. Soft on the palate at first, with aromas of black fruit and toasted notes, the wine reveals a full-bodied and rich mouthfeel, reinforced by tannins that are still young and spirited. It’s best to let it age.

About the estate:

Marie Boudal meticulously tends her old vines (24 hectares of organic cultivation)—comprising Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, and Mourvèdre (some of which are over 70 years old)—clinging to the steep slopes of Roquessels in the Faugères appellation. She has two labels: Ch. des Peyregrandes and Dom. Bénézech-Boudal.

Wine rated (2016 guide) 93/100

About the wine:

Deep, youthful color. A quintessentially Mediterranean nose, with spicy notes, herbs, stone fruits, and seasonings. On the palate, a model of controlled power set against a backdrop of the most refined aromas. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins. A benchmark.

A truly beautiful Faugères, ready to enjoy today, with very subtle notes of figs and coffee.
