"A delicious Fitou with lovely fruitiness!"

“A beautifully structured red wine with a very deep ruby color, the 2023 Fitou Autan En Emporte is grown on clay-sandy soil. A blend of Syrah, Grenache Noir, and Carignan (45/30/25) aged for 18 months in tanks, it offers both purity of expression and a tweed-like texture. Rather understated on the nose, it is full-bodied on the palate, with complex and very fruity notes, notably cherry in all its forms (fresh, candied, jam-like, Amarena), garrigue, blackberry, and blueberry, as well as floral notes of peony and old-fashioned rose (...).” (Jeb Dunnuck 2025).

About the wine:

A beautifully structured red wine with a very deep ruby color, the Fitou Autaun En Emporte 2023 is grown on sandy-clay soil. Rather understated on the nose, it is full-bodied on the palate, with complex and very fruity notes, notably cherry in all its forms (fresh, candied, jam-like, Amarena), garrigue, blackberry, and blueberry, as well as floral notes of peony and old-fashioned rose. Its freshness is further enhanced by a subtle bitterness and fine, slightly rough tannins, with a finish that tightens around a hint of mint. This red wine should be decanted; it will continue to age well, becoming even more floral and refined. Best enjoyed between 2025 and 2032.

Another favorite of mine—this warm, caressing nectar is like the “devil’s wind”! Full-bodied, warm, and melt-in-your-mouth, aged exclusively in tanks, it possesses the vibrancy of the 2023 vintage and tight tannins with a fine, silky texture. A light, balancing freshness leads to a superb, savory finish with a hint of minerality. A real steal. This still-young Fitou was a hit at the table, paired with a leg of farm-raised Lacaune lamb rubbed with thyme and roasted in the oven. Rating = 4.2.
