Château Auzias
Set in a magnificent Gallo-Roman villa dating back to 416 AD, Château Auzias is the largest estate in the Cabardès appellation, with 160 hectares of land, including 80 hectares of vineyards.
Located near the city of Carcassonne in Pennautier, Château Auzias underwent a revival in 1998 under the leadership of Dominique Auzias, who is now supported by his four children. The estate expanded following a family inheritance that brought it together with the neighboring Château Paretlongue, leading to the restructuring of the vineyard, the cellars, and the sales organization.
The Cabardès appellation is known for its blends that are unique to the region, introducing Bordeaux grape varieties to Languedoc soil: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot blended with the traditional Grenache and Syrah. The vineyards stretch from the gravelly slopes of the Montagne Noire to the sandy banks of the Fresque River, benefiting from a microclimate influenced by both the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. Red wines account for 85% of the appellation’s production, while rosé wines make up the remaining 15%.
