Château Auzias
Set within a magnificent Gallo-Roman villa dating back to 416 AD, Château Auzias is the largest estate in the Cabardès appellation, spanning 160 hectares, 80 of which are vineyards.
Located near the city of Carcassonne in Pennautier, Château Auzias underwent a revival in 1998 under the leadership of Dominique Auzias, who is now supported by his four children. The estate expanded, merging with the neighboring Château Paretlongue following a family inheritance: the vineyard, cellars, and commercial operations were restructured.
The Cabardès appellation is known for its unique blends for the region, introducing Bordeaux grape varieties to Languedoc soil: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot blended with the traditional Grenache and Syrah. The vines are planted on the gravelly slopes of the Montagne Noire and the sandy banks of the Fresque, benefiting from a microclimate influenced by both the Mediterranean and the ocean. Red wines account for 85% of production and rosé wines for 15% within the appellation.
