Bettane & Desseauve

This is the estate’s third Favorite , featuring a blend of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon that makes for a dynamic pairing. “Marine” because a lovely breeze of freshness blows through here, tempering the natural power of perfectly ripe fruit. Very delicious, barely marked by the wood (15% of the blend), the nose enchants with its blossoming fruit notes of cherry, red berries, and wild berries. Full-bodied, round, and supported by velvety tannins, the palate delivers crisp fruit notes tinged with a delicious hint of vanilla, with freshness and no hint of softness. Sensual and full-bodied, this beautiful wine offers a delicious balance between ripeness and vigor. The jury bows to such grace!” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2020)

Rated estate (2020 guide) Selected (An estate or winery that impressed us with one or more of its wines, though we are unable to offer a general assessment of the style of its entire range)

About the wine:

We appreciate the balance and harmony of this wine. It has an elegant, well-integrated nose with notes of ripe red fruit and delicate floral aromas, and on the palate it is flavorful and full-bodied, with firm tannins and a long finish.

About the estate:

Just a stone's throw from the city of Carcassonne and the Canal du Midi, Château de Paretlongue was founded in the 12th century by the canons of Carcassonne on the site of a Gallo-Roman villa, and subsequently passed through the hands of several noble owners. Purchased in 1872 by the Auzias family, wine merchants, it is now run by their descendants, Nathalie and Dominique Auzias, who, following an expansion, now own 160 hectares in a single block.
