Saumarez Estate
The Saumarez estate, locatedin Languedoc, west of Montpellier, was acquired in 2004 by Liz and Robin Williamson, two wine enthusiasts. After meeting in London, they trained in wine tasting and winemaking for two years. A meticulous search for beautiful terroirs led this New Zealander and Englishman to the Saumarez estate in Murviel-les-Montpellier, on Jurassic limestone soil.

A total of 10 plots covering 14 hectares make up theSaumarez vineyard, surrounded by hills between 80 and 150 meters above sea level and located 15 km from the sea. The estate has been certified organic since 2012. Various traditional Mediterranean grape varieties are grown there: Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Cabernet Sauvignon for red wines; Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, and Roussanne for white wines. As a small original touch, since 2014 Liz and Robin have grafted Sangiovese and Petit Verdot. A special cellar has been created to vinify the grapes by gravity, in order to follow natural conditions and preserve the integrity of the grapes.
