Clos du Causse
Leased until 2014, Clos du Causse is a 1.5-hectare plot taken over by Guy Vanlancker, winegrower at Domaine de la Combe Blanche. This Belgian teacher left the Ardennes in 1981 to join the sunshine of Languedoc on the La Livinière vineyard. He started out as a vineyard worker, then became a manager and winemaker for various estates in the region. He learned the trade there and finally devoted himself to his own wines in 2000. The 17-hectare property acquired in 1981 was redesigned and replanted, with part of it dedicated to Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, and Roussanne under the AOC designation, and part under the IGP designation with grape varieties less common in the region, such as Tempranillo, Pinot Noir, and Viognier.
Clos du Causse was taken over in 2014, and from 2015 onwards, solely by Guy Vanlancker. This small vineyard is located 250 meters above the village of La Livinière, on the foothills of the Montagne Noire, which forms the boundary of the vineyard. Facing north, Clos du Causse extends over the great terroir of La Livinière, composed of small clay-limestone terraces. Guy Valancker produced his first vintage in 2015 with this very promising cuvée! A 1Jour1Vin discovery!
