Bettane & Desseauve
"A great success for this historic Grande Cuvée, with remarkable ageing potential".
"Powerful aromas of black fruit jam, smoke and roasting enliven a heady, intense yet surprisingly fresh body, effortlessly integrating full-bodied tannins in keeping with the ensemble. The estate's historic cuvée in top form. Between two ages, it can be drunk or kept. (Le Guide Hachette 2025).

Wine rated (2025 guide) 91/100
Domaine rated (guide 2025) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the domain :
After Bernard Durand, who accompanied the Pic Saint-Loup's conversion from sheep-dominated polyculture to its recognition as a quality wine-growing zone, Régis Valentin, his nephew, has taken over the technical reins. Without fanfare, this is an estate to seek out for its powerful yet tasty Cuvée Vieilles Vignes, its Clos des Combes and its Grande Cuvée. The Cuvée Madame is even more ambitious, and the rosé is consistently delicious.

About the wine:
Powerful aromas of black fruit jam, smoke and torrefaction enliven a heady, intense yet surprisingly fresh body, seamlessly integrating full-bodied tannins in keeping with the ensemble. The estate's historic cuvée in top form. Between two ages, it can be drunk or kept.
About the domain :
Régis Valentin, oenologist and cellar master, took over the estate created in 1960 by the Durand-Valentin families in 2001. He produces wines from 80 ha of vines (in organic conversion since 2019) occupying a beautiful terroir of hard limestone and red clay. A sure bet in the Languedoc.
