Rated wine (2025 Guide) Prix Plaisir (Grand Gold) (Prix Plaisir)

Rated estate (2026 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the wine:

A highly original red wine that will appeal for its rich flavor and lively mouthfeel. It’s a wonderful discovery that we’re delighted to award a medal.

About the estate:

A dedicated winemaker, Philippe Porché has converted his 16 hectares in the clay-limestone terroir of Parnay, on a hillside where rainfall is among the lowest in the region. With each vintage, the estate continues to evolve: the reds range from supple on the palate (the Le Page cuvée) to deeper, more refined tannins (Le Prince and Le Roy). The whites range from the smooth and silky (La Jouvencelle) to the finely crafted Clos de la Thibaudière and its well-located vineyard on the hill of Brézé. The perfect place to treat yourself.

I really enjoyed tasting this today. I’m not qualified to offer a well-reasoned critical review, but I like wine—and this one, among others. If, after all that, I don’t get a free bottle, it’s enough to make one despair of unbiased criticism.
