Gault & Millau

(Notes from the 2011 vintage)

New vintage, 2011 was rated: Gault Millau 15/20
This white Anjou opens on the nose with aromas of yellow fruits, particularly apricot and peach, honey, and freshly cut white flowers. A full-bodied and smooth wine on the attack with notes of acacia and almond, which will shine with pan-fried scallops, for example, and most seafood...

Gault & Millau Wine Guide

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau

Wine rating (2012 guide) 15/20 (2011 vintage) (Very good)

5-star rated estate (Outstanding production)

About the estate:

Built in the 15th century in the commune of Rochefort-sur-Loire, this 23-hectare estate belongs to Alain Château's Vignobles Germain et Associés group, as does Château Bellerive. Located in the Coteaux du Layon-Chaume appellation, which has just been "named" Chaume 1er Cru, Alain Château called on Michel Doucet to develop the wines. After multiple uses, the château is now a charming bed and breakfast, offering a pleasant break in this region and the opportunity to taste the beautiful Coteaux du Layon wines. Chaume 1er Cru is a real masterpiece, with an intense and very rich liqueur, but also a fine bitter structure that makes it more complex and balanced.
