Award: Silver Medal at the Concours des Grands Vins de France in Mâcon
A red Anjou with a nose of ripe black fruit evolving into more complex hints of spice. The attack is velvety and silky, with aromas of ripe fruit (blackcurrant and prune) and mellow tannins... A seductive bottle, a beautiful expression of the Loire!

Gault & Millau Wine Guide

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau

5-star rated estate (Outstanding production)

About the estate:

Built in the 15th century in the commune of Rochefort-sur-Loire, this 23-hectare estate belongs to Alain Château's Vignobles Germain et Associés group, as does Château Bellerive. Located in the Coteaux du Layon-Chaume appellation, which has just been "named" Chaume 1er Cru, Alain Château called on Michel Doucet to develop the wines. After multiple uses, the château is now a charming bed and breakfast, offering a pleasant break in this region and the opportunity to taste the beautiful Coteaux du Layon wines. Chaume 1er Cru is a real masterpiece, with an intense and very rich liqueur, but also a fine bitter structure that makes it more complex and balanced.
