Straightforward, refined, and fresh, Bonnes Blanches en sec delivers a white wine with a strong structure and a deep, well-balanced palate. The delicate herbaceous aromas, pastry notes, and toasted almonds carry us away. The long finish ends with a minty freshness and a hint of bitterness. A success!

Wine rated 16.5/20 (2017 vintage) (Reference wine)

Rated estate (2020 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

Vincent and Emmanuel Ogereau are at the helm, pampering their terroirs in Anjou, Savennières, and Coteaux-du-Layon Saint-Lambert. These music lovers deliver a perfect score with Chenin and Cabernet, serenely cultivating their 23 hectares using organic farming methods. This charming estate, highly representative of the Anjou vineyards, has seen remarkable progress over the last few vintages: quite simply, everything is good! One is stunned by the definition of the wines, their finesse, and their elegance. The range brilliantly combines indulgence and immediate pleasure with aging potential, with beautiful aging in 400-liter barrels that give the wines depth. The Coteaux-du-Layon offers a magnificent balance, with dry whites distinguished by their pure, sparkling fruit and reds that are pleasant and lively. This is a place to watch very closely. The prices listed are wine merchant prices.

Rated estate (2020 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)

About the estate:

Vincent Ogereau works alongside his son Emmanuel, who has a solid international background and is determined to continue producing great terroir-driven Chenin wines, both dry and sweet. The estate rigorously harvests healthy grapes (without botrytis on the dry wines) and offers a wide range of consistent wines in three colors, reflecting the mosaic of schist soils. One example is the Bonnes Blanches terroir, which produces one of the most complete and smooth Coteaux-du-Layon wines, improving over a minimum of fifteen years. Clos Le Grand Beaupréau (on the wind-blown sands at the top of the Épiré hill) and L'Enthousiasme (a sandstone vein at the top of the Épiré hill) are among the most ambitious whites in the appellation. A plot of Chenin was planted in 2017 on a Carboniferous rock hillside in Ardenay, in order to explore a new expression of Anjou white wine.

Fine, mineral, long on the palate. Very successful. Its only flaw: it's very hard to find!
