Straightforward, chiselled and fresh, Bonnes Blanches en sec delivers a white wine with an assertive structure and a deep, well-balanced palate. Finely herbaceous aromas, pastry notes and toasted almonds carry us away. The long finish ends with a minty freshness and a hint of bitterness. A real success!

Domaine rated (2020 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the domain :

Vincent and Emmanuel Ogereau are at the helm, pampering their terroirs in Anjou, Savennières and Coteaux-du-Layon Saint-Lambert. These music-lovers deliver the right score of chenin and cabernet, serenely cultivating their 23 hectares of organic farming. This endearing address, highly representative of Anjou's vineyards, has made remarkable progress in recent vintages: quite simply, it's all good! We're stunned by the definition of the wines, their finesse and elegance. The range brilliantly combines gourmandise, immediate pleasure and ageing potential, with fine ageing in 400-litre barrels that give the wines depth. The coteaux-du-layon offers magnificent balance, the dry whites stand out for their pure, sparkling fruit, and the reds are amiable and playful. This is the address to watch out for. Prices shown are caviste prices.

About the domain :

Established in the Layon valley, this estate, which dates back to the late 19th century, collects stars and Favorites in all the colors of Anjou. The 24-hectare vineyard (in organic conversion) is run by Vincent Ogereau, one of the Loire's most talented winemakers, supported by his son Emmanuel since 2014. Not to be missed.

Domaine noté (guide 2020) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the domain :

Vincent Ogereau is joined by his son Emmanuel, who has a solid international background and is determined to pursue the path of great terroir-based chenins, both dry and sweet. The estate rigorously harvests healthy grapes (without botrytis in the dry wines) and offers a wide range of homogeneous tricolors, reflecting the mosaic of schists. For example, the Bonnes Blanches terroir produces one of the most complete and unctuous Coteaux-du-Layon wines, improving over at least 15 years. Clos Le Grand Beaupréau (on Aeolian sands at the top of the Épiré hillock) and L'Enthousiasme (a sandstone vein at the top of the Épiré hillock) are among the appellation's most ambitious whites. A parcel of Chenin was planted in 2017 on a slope of carboniferous rock in Ardenay, to explore a new expression of Angevin white.

Fine, mineral, long on the palate. A very successful wine. Its only fault: it's hard to find!
