Domaine Grosbois
Domaine Grosbois is run by Nicolas Grosbois, who continues the work of a long line of winegrowers dating back to 1820. The vineyard of this family estate, comprising 9 hectares of vines, is located at "Le Pressoir" in the Chinon appellation, in the heart of the Loire Valley between forest and river.
The Cabernet Franc grape variety, known as "Breton", is grown on either clayey-limestone or clayey-siliceous soils, ranging in depth from 30 cm to 3.5 m at the bottom of the hillside, and set on a limestone parent rock known as Millarge or Tuffau-Jaune. These different soils modulate the personality of Domaine Grosbois wines: the gravelly soils at the bottom of the slopes produce fruity wines, while at the top of the hill, the clayey-siliceous soils produce more structured wines.
