"A sweet wine renowned for its richness and intensity, with a refreshing quality!"

“Combining richness, complexity, and freshness, this Chaume is flawless. Notes of candied fruit and warm, buttered apple blend beautifully with a full-bodied, broad, and nuanced palate, lingering into a long and lovely finish with hints of quince.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2025).

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine rated (2025 guide) 2* Stars (Outstanding wine)

Rated estate (2026 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the wine:

Combining richness, complexity, and freshness, this Chaume is flawless. Notes of candied fruit and warm, buttered apple blend beautifully with a full-bodied, broad, and nuanced palate, lingering in a long, lovely finish with hints of quince.

About the estate:

René Socheleau and his son Philippe took over and restructured this 44-hectare estate in 2001, and built a new winery located on the Angevin Corniche, overlooking the Loire and Layon valleys. Their wines are regularly featured in the Guide. A (very) safe bet.
