Rated estate (2026 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

We have been closely following Antoine Van Remoortere’s work since his debut in 2011. His progress in Menetou-Salon has been deliberate and gradual: production has grown from 5,000 to 50,000 bottles, the seven hectares have been converted to organic farming, and aging periods have been extended to eight months today. From the very first vintages, the wines have candidly reflected the identity of Menetou-Salon’s Kimmeridgian marl. The lineup is very distinct: a lively and precise Sauvignon Blanc, a juicy and flavorful Pinot Noir (made with a portion of whole clusters and aged in one-third 400-liter barrels). We will soon be able to discover a new cuvée, Le Clos Fouchet, a Sauvignon planted on a terroir with thin clay layers, aged in amphorae, barrels, and concrete tanks.

Review by Mr. GILLES D. Published on January 14, 2026

Full-bodied and exceptionally refined, this Menetou-Salon, with its crisp, well-defined structure, reveals a splendid wine with subtle citrus notes, a lovely stony undertone, and delicate bitter notes that give way to a lively, zesty finish. A perfect aperitif wine to pair with tarama-topped toast, as well as pan-seared eels from the Poitevin Marshes in a parsley butter sauce. Rating = 4.3.
