Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2026 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the estate:
Located not far from Maine, on the granite slopes of Saint-Lumine-de-Clisson, this 32-hectare family estate was long run by Bruno Cormerais, who passed the torch to his son Maxime in 2009. To give their wines their "trademark" character, these winemakers often harvest later than their colleagues. Maxime Cormerais achieved a magnificent double in the 40th edition of the Guide Hachette des Vins 2025: two "coups de cœur" awards that highlight the beautiful terroir of Clisson, one of the ten communal crus of Muscadet. This is also an opportunity to zoom in on this region which, far from being a "little thirst-quenching wine," offers highly expressive wines that are increasingly prized by wine lovers in France and elsewhere.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 90/100

About wine:
In 2022, Vieilles Vignes asserts itself with significantly more concentration and substance, structured by a subtle bitterness.
About the estate:
In the Clisson area, Maxime Cormerais benefits from a heritage of old vines ranging from 30 to 70 years old, which allows him to produce classic Muscadets, bringing them back to the fine austerity of granite. These wines offer excellent value for money. Chambaudière and Vieilles Vignes are aged for around fourteen months in vats, while Prestige is partially aged in barrels. We applaud the extended aging of the Maxime (four years) and Calie (seven years) cuvées, which produce deep, mature whites.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on January 21, 2026
I was thrilled by this beautifully crafted, harmonious Muscadet with its rounded structure, exemplary freshness, and remarkable aromatic intensity dominated by lemon and enlivened by a hint of iodine. Fried mackerel fillets and creamy cauliflower purée enhanced the wine's liveliness and minerality. A great success at a particularly affordable price, not to be missed in this most inspiring 2022 vintage.
