Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2026 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines regularly receive awards from the guide)
About the estate:
Located not far from the Maine River, on the granite-rich slopes of Saint-Lumine-de-Clisson, this 32-hectare family-owned estate was long managed by Bruno Cormerais, who passed the torch to his son Maxime in 2009. To give their wines their “signature style,” these winemakers often harvest later than their peers. Maxime Cormerais achieved a magnificent double in the 40th edition of the 2025 Hachette Wine Guide: two “Coups de Coeur” that highlight the beautiful terroir of Clisson, one of the ten municipal crus of Muscadet. This is also an opportunity to take a closer look at this region, which—far from being merely a source of “light, everyday wine”—offers highly expressive wines that are increasingly prized by wine lovers in France and beyond.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 90/100
Rated Estate (2026 Guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the wine:
In 2022, Vieilles Vignes stands out with significantly more concentration and body, structured by a subtle bitterness.
About the estate:
In the Clisson region, Maxime Cormerais draws on a legacy of old vines ranging from 30 to 70 years old, which allows him to produce classic Muscadets, imbuing them with the refined austerity of granite. These wines offer excellent value for the price. Chambaudière and Vieilles Vignes are aged for about fourteen months in tanks, while Prestige is partially aged in barrels. We commend the extended aging of the Maxime (four years) and Calie (seven years) cuvées, which produce deep, well-rounded whites.

I really like the wines from this estate, which I had visited. The wines have good structure and length, thanks to a noticeable but not harsh acidity. Beautiful length. It's a benchmark in this AOP.

Review and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on July 28, 2025
In a fresh, taut vintage, this is a fine success, showcasing the liveliness and intensity of citrus notes, enhanced by well-balanced acidity and a sustained minerality. It pairs harmoniously with roasted turbot steaks served with sauce vierge. Equally delightful: crispy shrimp spring rolls with nuoc mam sauce. Rating = 4.
