Gault & Millau

"A fragrance of honeyed dried fruit mingles with roasted pineapple and bergamot. Both the nose and palate are superlative, revealing a delicious and delicate flavor without ostentation. " (Le Guide Gault & Millau 2015). Nothing is lacking in this exceptional 2010 vintage, vinified with the help of the talented oenologist and professor Denis Dubourdieu. Already great and more than promising, this bottle concentrates aromatic complexity, richness, and power, while maintaining balance and freshness. An incredible vintage full of panache and great aging potential!

Wine rated 16/20 (Very good wine)

Winery rated 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About wine:

A full-bodied wine that develops nicely with hints of orange peel, spices, and honey.

About the estate:

A wine enthusiast, Alain Château is a passionate lover of terroirs. Since 2005, he has built up an impressive portfolio of vineyards in Bordeaux and the Loire Valley, where he owns three properties: Château de Varennes (7 hectares in Savennières), Château de la Guimonière (19 hectares in Coteaux-du-Layon Chaume, Anjou and Cabernet d'Anjou, including 16 hectares of Chenin) and Château Bellerive, located in the heart of the Quarts-de-Chaume appellation on the left bank of the Loire. The sweet wines combine power, elegance, and freshness and hold their own in their respective appellations. We did not taste the reds.

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau

Wine rated (2015 guide) 16/20 (Very good)

5-star rated estate (Outstanding production)

About wine:

A fragrance of honeyed dried fruit mingles with roasted pineapple and bergamot. Both the nose and palate are superlative, revealing a delicately indulgent flavor without ostentation.

About the estate:

Alain Château, an industrialist with a passion for wine, took over this historic vineyard in the Quarts-de-Chaume region in 2004. He enlisted the help of Denis Dubourdieu, a renowned Bordeaux oenologist who also owns a classified growth in Sauternes, as his advisor. With its dazzling golden color, this cuvée combines the sweetness of quince and honey with aromas of candied fruit. Soft, fresh and rich, it leaves a very pleasant, warm impression on the palate. Don't wait to discover it.

A very clear, shimmering golden color that invites you to taste it. The nose is delicate with hints of candied citrus fruits. Easy to drink, full-bodied and not overly sweet. This is a very fine wine.
