“A fragrance of honeyed dried fruits intertwines with roasted pineapple and bergamot. This wine is truly exceptional, both on the nose and on the palate, which, without ostentation, reveals a rich and delicate flavor profile. ” (Gault & Millau Guide 2015). Nothing is lacking in this exceptional 2010 vintage, vinified with the assistance of the talented oenologist and professor Denis Dubourdieu. Already magnificent and more than promising, this wine concentrates aromatic complexity, richness, and power, while maintaining balance and freshness. An incredible vintage full of panache and with excellent aging potential!

Wine rated 16/20 (Very good wine)

Rated 2 stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more conventional and uniform than the previous one)

About the wine:

A full-bodied wine that develops nicely, with notes of orange peel, spices, and honey.

About the estate:

A wine enthusiast, Alain Château is a passionate connoisseur of terroirs. Since 2005, he has built up an impressive portfolio of vineyards in the Bordeaux region and the Loire Valley, where he owns three estates: Château de Varennes (7 hectares in Savennières), Château de la Guimonière (19 hectares in Coteaux-du-Layon, Chaume, Anjou, and Cabernet d’Anjou—including 16 hectares of Chenin), and Château Bellerive, located in the heart of the Quarts-de-Chaume appellation on the left bank of the Loire. The sweet wines combine power, elegance, and freshness and hold their own within their respective appellations. We did not taste the reds.

Wine rated (2015 guide) 16/20 (Very good)

5-Star Rated Estate (Outstanding Production)

About the wine:

A fragrance of honeyed dried fruits intertwines with roasted pineapple and bergamot. This wine is exceptional both on the nose and on the palate, revealing a rich yet delicate flavor profile without any pretension.

About the estate:

Alain Château, an industrialist with a passion for wine, took over this historic Quarts-de-Chaume vineyard in 2004. He enlisted Denis Dubourdieu—a renowned Bordeaux oenologist who also owns a Sauternes cru classé—as his advisor. With its dazzling golden hue, this cuvée combines the sweetness of quince and honey with aromas of candied fruit in its bouquet. Sweet, fresh, and rich, the palate finishes with very pleasant, warm notes. Don’t wait to discover it.

A crystal-clear, shimmering golden color that invites you to taste it. The nose is delicate, with hints of candied citrus. On the palate, it is easy to drink, full-bodied, and not overly sweet. It is a truly beautiful wine.
