Domaine Cognard

Founded in 1973 by Lydie and Max Cognard, the Cognard estate began with a single hectare of vineyards passed down by Lydie’s parents. Their children, Estelle and Rodolphe, gradually joined the business before taking over in 2013. Since her brother’s passing in 2018, Estelle has continued the family legacy on her own, with passion and determination, thus carrying on the expertise passed down through generations.

Today, Domaine Cognard spans 15 hectares spread across the Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil and Bourgueil appellations, in the heart of the Loire Valley. Cabernet Franc, the iconic grape variety of these terroirs, has been cultivated organically there since 2017. This approach reflects a commitment to preserving the environment, respecting the vines, and revealing the full richness and authenticity of each terroir.

Domaine Cognard produces red and rosé wines that captivate with their finesse, elegance, and fruity expression. Winemaking in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks allows for precise control over fermentation and preserves the aromatic freshness of the grapes. Some vintages are aged in oak barrels, adding depth and complexity to their aromatic profile, resulting in wines that faithfully express the full personality of Cabernet Franc.
