Domaine Michel Chevré

Domaine Michel Chevré was created in 2007, and in 2009 gave birth to the AOC Saumur cuvée Les Ecotards. This cuvée was born from a one-hectare plot of Chenin on a south-facing limestone hillside in the village of Courchamps.

In 1992, Michel Chevré met Thierry Germain, who had just set up Domaine des Roches Neuves in Varrains, in the Saumur Champigny appellation. The two men hit it off immediately, and Michel started out as vineyard manager. Together, they converted Domaine des Roches Neuves to organic viticulture in 2002, giving birth to the famous parcel-based cuvée l'Insolite.
