Domaine Michel Chevré

Domaine Michel Chevré was founded in 2007 and, as early as 2009, produced the Les Ecotards cuvée under the Saumur AOC. This cuvée comes from a one-hectare plot of Chenin grapes on a south-facing limestone hill in the village of Courchamps.

In 1992, Michel Chevré met Thierry Germain, who had just settled at Domaine des Roches Neuves in Varrains, within the Saumur Champigny appellation. The two men hit it off immediately, and Michel began working there as vineyard manager. Together, in 2002, they converted Domaine des Roches Neuves to organic farming and created the famous single-vineyard cuvée, l'Insolite.
