Jeanne Germain
Jeanne Germain, the youngest daughter of the renowned Loire winemaker Thierry Germain and owner of the Domaine des Roches Neuves, released her first vintage, La Foulée, in 2019. Having developed an appreciation for biodynamics and nature through her many years working alongside her father, she now cultivates the land with exemplary respect for the environment and the ecosystem.
Her love of wine, her passion for horses, and her commitment to showcasing her terroir are a true source of inspiration in the creation of her 100% Cabernet Franc wines, certified Organic. She uses animal-drawn viticulture techniques with her two Ardennes horses, Ben and Comtesse. Jeanne Germain and her partner Florent Bouvet now cultivate 1.7 hectares in the heart of the Loire Valley within the Saumur-Champigny appellation. Close to their vines and drawing on the richness of their terroir—a blend of clay-sandy and clay-limestone soils—they are committed to vinifying their wines without added sulfur and aging them exclusively in old barrels.
The Germain family’s conscientious work—attuned to nature and aided by their horses—is having a positive influence on other winemakers: in fact, Jeanne and Florent now offer their services and work a total of 6 hectares of vineyards spread across the Saumur-Champigny and Puy-Notre-Dame appellations, in addition to the family estate.
