Jeanne Germain

Jeanne Germain, youngest daughter of renowned Loire winemaker Thierry Germain, owner of the Roches Neuves estate, produced her first vintage, La Foulée, in 2019. Having learned about biodynamics and nature from her father over many years, she now works the land with exemplary respect for the environment and the ecosystem. 

Her love of wine, her passion for horses, and her terroir are a real source of inspiration in the production of her 100% Cabernet Franc vintages, which are certified organic. She uses animal-drawn viticulture techniques with her two Ardennes horses, Ben and Comtesse. Jeanne Germain and her partner Florent Bouvet now work 1.7 hectares in the heart of the Loire Valley in the Saumur-Champigny appellation. Close to their vines and rich in their terroir, combining clay-sandy and clay-limestone soils, they are committed to vinifying their wines without added sulfur, aging them exclusively in old barrels.

The conscientious work of the Germain family, attentive to nature and aided by their horses, is having a positive influence on other winegrowers: Jeanne and Florent now offer their services and work a total of 6 hectares of vines spread over the Saumur-Champigny and Puy-Notre-Dame appellations, in addition to the family estate.
