Jeanne Germain

Jeanne Germain, youngest daughter of renowned Loire winemaker Thierry Germain, owner of Domaine des Roches Neuves, is making her first cuvée, La Foulée, in 2019. Having learned about biodynamic viticulture and nature from her father over many years, she now works the soil with exemplary respect for the environment and the ecosystem.

Her love of wine, her passion for horses and her honored terroir are a real source of inspiration in the creation of her 100% Cabernet Franc cuvées, which are certified organic. Their two Ardennais horses, Ben and Comtesse, are used for animal-drawn viticulture. Today, Jeanne Germain and her partner Florent Bouvet work 1.7 hectares in the heart of the Loire Valley in the Saumur-Champigny appellation. Close to their vines and enriched by their terroir, a blend of clay-sand and clay-limestone soils, they are committed to making their wines without added sulfur, and ageing them exclusively in old barrels.

The Germain family's conscientious work, in tune with nature and with the help of their horses, has also had a positive impact on other winegrowers: Jeanne and Florent now offer their services and work a total of 6 hectares of vines in the Saumur-Champigny and Puy-Notre-Dame appellations, in addition to the family estate.
