Saumur Puy Notre Dame

Saumur Puy Notre Dame is a small appellation comprising just around twenty producers across 1,500 hectares in 17 communes. Saumur Notre Dame is an old wine-growing village in the Saumur region; it was once a favorite vacation spot of Eleanor of Aquitaine. Rich in history, it boasts architectural treasures as well as vast cellars for aging red wines. The Saumur Puy Notre Dame appellation produces exclusively red wines made from Cabernet Franc (minimum 85%) and Cabernet Sauvignon, grown on Jurassic and Eocene limestone Turonian (tuffeau) soils.
