Saumur Puy Notre Dame

Saumur Puy Notre Dame is a small appellation comprising just twenty producers across 1,500 hectares in 17 communes. Saumur Notre Dame is an old wine-growing village in the Saumur region, once a holiday destination for Eleanor of Aquitaine. Rich in history, it boasts architectural treasures as well as vast cellars for storing red wines. The Saumur Puy Notre Dame appellation produces only red wines made from Cabernet Franc (minimum 85%) and Cabernet Sauvignon on Jurassic and Eocene limestone soils (tuffeau).
