Saumur Puy Notre Dame
Saumur Puy Notre Dame is a small appellation with just twenty producers covering 1,500 hectares in 17 communes. Saumur Notre Dame is an old wine-growing village in the Saumur region, and was once the summer residence of Eleanor of Aquitaine. Rich in history, it offers architectural treasures as well as huge cellars for storing red wines. The Saumur Puy Notre Dame appellation produces only red wines made from Cabernet Franc (85% minimum) and Cabernet Sauvignon on Jurassic and Eocene limestone Turonian (tuffeau) soils.

2*Coup de Coeur Hachette

"The intense, almost black color suggests that the grapes are ripe. The nose confirms and offers lovely notes of bigareau, blackcurrant and blackberry. The palate, with its almost sweet roundness, generous, tight tannins and fine balance, fleshes out the aromatic range with subtle spicy fragrances. The density of the fruit and the exceptional length of this cuvée win everyone over". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2019)
