Domaine Sauvète
The Sauvète estate is now run by Jérôme and Dominique Sauvète, supported by their daughter Mathilde, an agricultural and viticulture engineer.
Since 1905, when George Sauvète planted the very first vine, the estate has undergone a complete transformation.
The family-run estate is located in Monthou-sur-Cher, within the Touraine appellation, on the slopes of Toucheronde. The 17 hectares of vineyards are cultivated using organic farming methods to respect the environment and ensure that the characteristics of the terroir are reflected in the grapes and, ultimately, in the wines.
The Sauvète vineyard consists of 8.5 hectares of Sauvignon, Chenin, and Chardonnay for white wines, planted on soils of
wind-blown sand, clay-limestone subsoils, and flint; and 8.5 hectares of Gamay, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Pineau d’Aunis for red and rosé wines on stony soils of flint, perron, and spongy rock.
Today, new facilities, including cellars and a visitor center, enable the estate to continue its upward trajectory in quality. New opportunities are emerging, particularly through the development of wine tourism on the estate.
