Bairrada
Located south of Vinho Verde, Bairrada is a region subject to the whims of the weather. When the weather is mild and there has been plenty of sunshine, the grapes produce concentrated, deep wines with great aging potential. The Bairrada region is famous for its Mateus wine, a dry, slightly sparkling rosé.
The soils of Bairrada consist of clay, limestone, and sand. The main grape varieties are Baga and Castelao for whites, and Maria Gomez, Bical, and Rabo for reds.
