Wine rated (2023 guide) 93/100

About the wine:

Richly structured and full-bodied, this wine is well-balanced, with tannins that are already integrated with the black fruit flavors. With its acidity and mineral texture, this wine has the potential to age further. Best enjoyed starting in 2026.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 17+/20

About the wine:

Very dark color with a purplish rim; no signs of color change. An explosion of black fruit aromas—blackberry and damson—but without any obvious sweetness; in other words, it exhibits the dark, rugged, and savory character of the Douro. Chewy but not aggressive tannins that are still developing. If you open this wine now, you’ll need to drink it with a meal—though, in fact, it will likely always be a meal wine. The Touriga comes through not only in the color but also in a floral note. The tannins are compact and balanced, but they would benefit from another year in the bottle to fully develop. A long, finely textured finish with a fresh aftertaste accentuated by the tannins—or perhaps the other way around. 2025–2031
